Gender-Specific Knee Replacement
Recently there has been a new focus on old ways of thinking concerning knee replacement and medicine in general. This focus is on gender-specific medicine. All surgeons know that there is a difference in the shape of male and female bones. For years we have tried to force the same components onto males and females with less than perfect results. Now, there are components designed specifically to fit the different shapes of males and females. These components come in cruciate retaining, posterior stabilized, and high flex varieties. This gives limitless options for both men and women. Dr. Allison uses all types of gender-specific components and tailor fits the right replacement for the right patient.
